| Art and creativity are important to me and every year I make more strides. I can see my strengths through the positive growth in customer comments and sales.
I began art instruction through a fabulously talented artist named Mr. Louis Pelkey who taught oil painting. He loved the sea and painted many seascapes, ships and harbor scenes. However, I enjoy and am fascinated with design and enjoy the splendor of watercolor, but am passionate about oils.
My children and I began a company called "The Pour People", a ceramics studio. We had a customer base made up of studios and personal ceramicists in need of cast greenware. I tole painted with acrylics on bisque, wood and metal and sold the finished products at local craft shows throughout the capaital district. During that time I was a member of the Ceramic Artist's Guild; and I am a certified Duncan teacher.
During early 90's I was working with the NYS Comptroller's Office, State Financial Services Division. I worked with formatting graphics in the Bits, Bytes, & Sites newsletter and later became the Editor.
I designed their Division-wide Employee Recognition Logo - it became their banner; co-created the logo for the yearly Employee Retreat with the Director of Financial Reporting, Mr. Paul Wilkes.
I opened up a new company in the 90's, "Think Spring!", which sells estate contents over the internet - E-Bay. During that time, I painted a second mural in a vestibule/foyer. This led me to return to oil painting, added watercolors, and other types of creative home decor. I took Website Design through HVCC and became the webmaster for two web sites: The Dead End Cruizers [www.thedeadendcruizers.com] and my own Think Spring! website [www.thinkspringny.com].
I held my first local solo art exhibit at the East Greenbush Library. I became a board member on the Colonie Art League as the chair for the new website: www.ColonieArtLeague.com . My oil painting, "The Palisades", was featured on the cover of the New York State Government Fiinance Officer's Association magazine. I attended Siena College where I learned Drawing in depth with instructor, Sergio Sericolo. He taught me to use drawing as an important and necessary tool. He also introduced me to charcoal, chalk and oil pastels. I became a chairman for the Art on the Lawn Sale for the Local Color Art Gallery. I was juried into the Historic Albany Foundation's yearly "Vacancy" Art Show and Auction where one of my watercolors sold. I chaired the Pruyn House Spring Show in March; I was exhibit planner/coordinator for an art show at the East Greenbush Library. I originated the first exhibits to be held at the new Schodack Town Hall. In June, I became President of the Colonie Art League. In December, along with Lois Busch of the Woman's Club of Albany, I had a month-long holiday showing at the WCA mansion during the Festival of Trees.
I was commissioned to paint an oil of the Acropolis. I purchased a computerized embroidery machine for custom work on home decor items. My art was displayed in the feature windows of the Broadway Art Center in Albany, New York. I took watercolor basics class with Susan Wiley and Regine Petroski.
I became the Financial Director for the Broadway Art Center. Starting in Novemberof 2011, a group of concerned artists formed a corporation - the Broadway Art Center.
